Federal Awards

There are two key Federal Awards that cover the restaurant and catering industry in Victoria: Liquor and Accommodation Industry - Restaurants - Victoria - Award 1998 [AP787213] Catering - Victoria - Award 1998 [AP772681]

Both of these Awards were declared to operate as 'Common Rule' awards effective from 1 January 2005.  

If you have a restaurant, café or catering business in Victoria and you employ staff and they are not covered by either a Collective Agreement or an Australian Workplace Agreement, then Federal Award coverage will apply to your business.

There are also other Common Rule Federal Awards that cover other sectors of the hospitality industry including hotels, motels, licensed clubs, fast food outlets and the wine industry.
