2010 Victorian Awards for Excellence

Jacques Reymond has been named Victoria's top place to dine in the 2010 Restaurant & Catering Victoria Awards for Excellence. The restaurant was also awarded the Best Fine Dining Restaurant category. Restaurateur Jacques Reymond was also awarded the prized Lifetime Achiever Award, recognising his outstanding achievements and efforts to the industry.
Thirty two Victorian restaurants and caterers were announced winners at the ceremony on (Monday 2 August at Palladium, Crown Melbourne. Over 600 hospitality professionals attended the event which is Victoria's biggest hospitality event.
Joining Jacques Reymond in the winners' circle was Crown Melbourne who was named the Victoria's Caterer of the Year. They also won the category of Wedding Caterer.
Both Jacques Reymond and City Beach Function Centre will now compete with venues from across Australia in the National awards being held on 25 October 2010 in Melbourne.
Restaurant & Catering Victoria President Matteo Pignatelli commented that "the Awards for Excellence represent an important moment as the industry pauses to honour these outstanding venues that were reviewed on the whole dining experience rather than a single dimension".
The Awards for Excellence program, now in its 12th year was created to recognise excellence in food, service and to acknowledge best practice in the hospitality industry.

The Restaurant & Catering Victoria Awards for Excellence gives you and your busienss the opportunity to be recognised as Victoria's leading restaurant or caterer and be showcased to the industry and public as a result of the extensive media publicity lined up for 2010 Awards for Excellence.
System The judging system is designed to mimic the dining experience of customers, focusing on the areas that make a difference to guests. The system ranks more than 50 individual criteria which span the entire dining experience, from booking through to service and beyond.
Process The judging process includes a consumer preference survey which is used to moderate the raw data produced by the team of judges. Using this analysis as a guide, entrants can look at specific areas of the business where they excel and other areas that could benefit from further development.
Feedback To assist nominiees to strive for excellence once the judging period has concluded, all entrants in both the restaurant and catering sectors, will receive statistical feedback from the judging process. This feedback proves to be a valuable business development tool for all operators.
